The purpose of the Advisory Panel is to provide a link between Science Board and the particle astrophysics community, and represent the needs of the community to STFC. The remit of the panel includes Technology Development, Theory, High Performance Computing and Data Curation issues within its area.
Following a consultation with the community in 2015 and 2016, the PAAP produced a Roadmap for Particle Astrophysics, this is available below.
Three years have passed since the last programmatic review, and as part of the STFC review cycle it is important to assess how the scientific landscape has changed in this time, if the funded programme is sustainable and to assess the impact of expected future budget allocations. Therefore, STFC is currently engaged in an exercise to examine the balance between the different areas of STFC’s particle physics, nuclear physics, particle astrophysics and astronomy programme. The review will also consider the accelerator and computing programmes to support the scientific programmes. The PAAP was invited to feed into the Balance of Programmes exercise and their input following community consultation is available below.
