Peter Noble is STFC’s Chief Operating Officer and a member of the Executive Board. Peter is directly responsible for STFC’s Estates and Facilities Management and Safety, Health and Environment functions. He also has oversight for STFC of UKRI’s delivery of Human Resources and Finance and the Governance, Assurance, Risk and Innovation function.
Peter trained as a radiographer and subsequently moved to managerial roles in hospitals, schools and universities. In the NHS he was Director of Health Strategy for Yorkshire Region, Executive Director of Whipps Cross London and Managing Director in North East Lincolnshire, establishing the first UK social enterprise for mental health. In addition to NHS non-executive roles, he directed an international study on performance across 27 academic clinical centres and was subsequently appointed as Director of Operations for MRC Gambia, Chief Operating Officer for Manchester Academic Health Science Centre and Vice President at the University of New South Wales, Sydney. He joins STFC at an interesting time of development and transformation.
