Our purpose & priorities…making our mission clear
UK Research and Innovation is a new body which works in partnership with universities, research organisations, businesses, charities, and government to create the best possible environment for research and innovation to flourish. We aim to maximise the contribution of each of our component parts, working individually and collectively. We work with our many partners to benefit everyone through knowledge, talent and ideas. For more information visit the UKRI website.
At STFC, we have a good understanding not just of what we need to achieve but also of the road we need to take to reach our goals.
Our starting-point is an inspirational Vision that defines our overarching objective. Building on this, a comprehensive Corporate Strategy 2010-20 outlines how we are transforming this Vision into reality.
The translation of the Corporate Strategy into planned activity at an operational level is through a medium term Delivery Plan and Scorecard which aligns to the current spending review period ending in 2020.
An annual Operating Plan, with an accompanying annual Action Plan, then completes the “golden thread” from individual or team activities through to strategic goals.
The Corporate Strategy is complemented by specialist supporting strategies targeting specific fields of STFC activity.
STFC Executive Chair Mark Thomson has opened a formal series of discussions with our research communities designed to identify new world class science and technology proposals for potential future investment.
