STFC funds projects that demonstrate the application of innovative science, technology, applications and expertise developed from STFC’s core science programme to priority areas of the 21st Century. The aim is to provide a faster route to funding that will enable researchers to demonstrate capability applied to new areas, de‐risk novel concepts and, thereby, maximise the potential to realise opportunities for next‐stage funding.
The objectives of the fund are, therefore:
Projects must clearly show that the innovative science, technology, applications and expertise has been developed through the STFC core Science Programme (nuclear physics, particle physics, astronomy, space science) or the STFC national facilities and laboratories.
Each project must involve at least one Principal Investigator or Co-Investigator employed in an academic or STFC facility/department previously or currently funded by STFC to undertake work in these areas.
Information about the projects funded to date can be found on Gateway to Research.
