ASTeC collaborates in generic physics and technology studies for future electron linear collider projects. Much of the work in the past has been more specifically directed towards the International Linear Collider (ILC) programme, including major leadership roles in the international project. The work on ILC included work on the positron source and the beam delivery system, including lattice design and simulation, collimation and crab correction system.
ASTeC has contributed to the FP7 European project European Coordination for Accelerator Research & Development (EuCARD) in the areas of positron source, crab system and beam delivery system. ASTeC has been one of the major contributors to the FP6 European project European design study towards a global TeV linear collider (EuroTeV) which ran from January 2005 until December 2008.
ASTeC is a member of the LC-ABD (Linear Collider - Accelerator and Beam Delivery) consortium. This is a group of UK academic institutes aiming to establish a skill base for collider based studies in a number of key areas, including development of new techniques for the measurement and control of intense relativistic particle beams with nanometre precision.
ASTeC is currently collaborating with CERN on CLIC-UK linear collider programme delivering high technology and innovative solutions in the area of novel magnet s, crab systems and diagnostics systems.
